Girls Camp!!!

A few months ago I was called as Camp Director for our ward and man what a wild ride it has been! Ever since I got the call it has constantly been on my mind and for those of you who know me, it's all I've been talking about ;) so sorry about that! It has been so busy.........meetings, brainstorming, shopping, ordering, planning, praying, meetings, certification, scheduling, crying, meetings, calling, emailing, visiting, buying, meetings, equipment hunting, crafting, learning guitar, tent finding, practicing, preparing, crying, meetings, meetings, and more meetings! Haha! Needless to say it has been very emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually exhausting...BUT the benefits and blessings that came along with this calling completely surpassed any stress or headaches involved and I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat :)

I was SO happy to finally get up there and for camp to begin. Saying goodnight to Sam and Jane the night before I left was soooo sad because I knew it was the last time I would see them for four days! I was a wreck! Try and picture me, if you will, singing my lullaby to Jane hysterically sobbing.....not a pretty sight! If only I had known then what an amazing week I was about to experience.....it might of helped a bit ;)

Our stake theme was True Treasure Island and each ward was assigned a ship. We were Battleship. By far the coolest ship in the entire stake!!! (I mean others were sportsmanship and friendship........ya..........LOL!) Our colors were black and gold so try to picture us strutting around wherever we went decked out from head to toe.....we were so cool!!! Dang!!!! But seriously.......we really were ;) hehe! Each day we had a theme and it all tied into the stages of battle. So day one was: Create your battle plan--be prepared. Day two: You are in the midst of battle--arm yourself. Day three: Reflect, revise, and remember. And day four: You've won the battle--now go and win the war. It all ended up coming together so perfectly! It really was amazing. We had the perfect mix of spiritual vs fun and silly activities. Three girls were our YCL's (youth camp leaders) and they completely blew me away. They ran the whole thing and their thoughts and testimonies left me speechless.......and you'd think tearless, but they just kept coming!!! So powerful. I really was either giggling and laughing my face off or bawling my eyes out. Too funny! I grew and learned so much from them and all the other girls. Absolutely ah-mazing.

Just so I will never forget, here are some of the fun things we did and highlights of the trip!

Crafts: decorated sunglasses, bags with our logo, made lipgloss, decorated and personalized our own pocket sized book of Mormons, bandanas, friendship bracelets, fabric bracelets, magnets, painted nails, and tablecloth doodles.

Activities: dance party, roll calls (that we did horribly at!!!), faith walk, swimming in the lake, canoeing, shooting the potatoe gun, balance beam competition, solo time, the cup game song, welcoming our fourth year hikers, doing our nice pranks on all the other wards, snipe hunting, singing camp songs, our lip sync dance, testimony meeting, devotional by sister Cook, and bedtime stories.

Moments I'll never forget: putting on those gold pants--Ok so we did a lip sync and had a huge dance prepared and in the middle of the dance I ripped off my black pants and revealed these hot gold pants.....best. Moment. Ever. Haha!!!! Oh I'm dying! Ok continuing on--ziplining into the lake, getting attacked by a porcupine, having a girl walk in on me in the bathroom, everyone thinking I was a girl and not a leader, having all my girls cheer my name when I was down in front being recognized as camp director, trying to survive and kill the bat that got into our tent, going around and sharing our favorite scriptures/thoughts, getting dragged like a doll during our snipe hunt....the girls were so scared!!!!, playing the guitar during our camp songs (I've always wanted to learn how to play so I took this opportunity to learn how and I accomplished that goal. Woot woot!), trying to sleep thru all the snoring! Haha! Sneaking into my car at two thirty in the morning to try and escape said snoring.....HA!!!, reading the book of Moroni during solo time, hearing each of the girls testimonies, pulling a prank on the girls that we left a cooler at home that had our dinner in it and the bishop showing up at that intense moment with cafe rio, getting to know our funny priesthood brethren better.... Indiana Jones!, calling home to check on Kevin and the kids and hanging up and the girls asking "Are you ok?" and then shamelessly bursting out into tears, having all the girls in our tent the last night till three in the morning, hearing weird things with my earplugs in.....haha!, making moose noises, waking up the girls in the morning with our awful and ugly instruments, walking up and down to the bathroom, being totally schooled by everyone else's cheers and skits, being late to EVERYTHING, and feeling the spirit so strongly and feeling sooooo close to my Heavenly Father and loving Savior :)

Pretty awesome huh?!? Best. Week. Ever.

Here are some fun pics that were taken during camp!!!

Oh yeeeeaaaahhhh ;)

We're so bad it's cool!

The young women's presidency and me :) love these ladies!

We're cute and crazy!!!

Pretty sweet selfie!!!

We look so awesome! Is it just me?!?

The girls decorated my tiny thin braids with flowers to make me look like someone on frozen (never seen it) and to probably make me look more beautiful ;) lol!

This is Emma. She is the spitting image of my BFF Sam when we were her age. Not only does she look like her, but her personality, mannerisms, laugh, even her handwriting is exactly the same as Sam!!!!! Insane! I just stared at her the entire time.....she probably thinks I'm so creepy! Haha ;)

I sent Kevin this pic of me in my tent having an awesomely fun time :)

GO BATTLESHIP!!!!!!!!!! Aren't my gold pants pretty sweet?!? ;) oh and I know my back leg is horribly bent....don't judge me (Morgie)..... HA!!!

As you can see (and read) you can probably tell that this really was such a special and memorable experience. I'm SO grateful that I got to spend time with these incredible girls and get twenty new best friends :)

B. A. T. T. L. E. S. H. I. P.  We will fight for truth and light with all our might ya we're so tight! We're battle....what? Battle....what? Battle....what? BATTLESHIP!!!!!!!!!

May!

Looking back at my last post I seem really whiney and pessimistic.... May did have some downs and was definitely cursed at times, BUT there were so many awesome moments that I don't want to forget about so here are some of those happy memories that I thankfully caught with my camera :) Enjoy!

I love that I took a pic of this...... I found her playing with my necklace, some hair gel, and a tampon....what a girly girl!

She may be girly, but she is still a Davis ;)

May 9th was Jane's birthday! What a fast year it has been :)

Jane taking an awkward selfie on her birthday ;)

Happy birthday Janie boo!!! I remember Sam's first birthday and how he cried and hated all the attention on him. Jane was completely the opposite. She LOVED all attention and knew it was her special day. She could not stop smiling :)

We had our first date since having Jane and it was delicious!

Here are the cookies I made for our first aid certification night for camp....it's getting closer!

Morgie and I went to see Ballet West's innovations.....such a fun night! We were so giggly seeing all the dancers that were on breaking pointe. After the show I got a little too excited and jumped in front Rex and Allison's car and started blowing them kisses and dancing around....pretty sure I'm twelve...it seriously was the best night ever. Love my Morgie time!

Sam did not get potty trained his month :( He still makes me change him on the changing table....LOL!!!

We planted our first garden!

Sam went to his first big kid birthday party and had a blast! At one point he told me to leave him alone.... I guess I was embarrassing him in front of the other kids :( Ha!

I got me some new shades and I LOVE them!

I think Jane might be a doctor one day :)

Jane made lots of messes.......

And Sam cleaned them all up......

Sam and Jane love to sneak into the freezer and eat all the ice :)

Sam got a new haircut, new shoes, and a new hat!

Took this pic late one night when I went in to check on Jane....what a sweet girl :)

I felt like I was having a good hair day one night so we took a pic to document the monumental occasion.....

Then I started posing.......

And then it got awkward......can't you see the anguish in my eyes?!? Haha!

Excited for summer!

Lots of playing outside!

I love that her favorite thing to eat is cereal....just like me! Yay!!!

Sam before he got his haircut.....clearly you can see he really needed it ;)

Mmmmmm mmmmm :)

My little strawberry :)

She already has her daddy wrapped around her fingers...he bought her a new car :)

Happy May and here's to a happy June!!!

Cursed

Have you ever felt cursed? Like seriously for reals cursed?!? Now I know that I am VERY blessed and have a wonderful and happy life, but there have been a few things that no matter what I do I am seriously CURSED....... Seriously!!!!!! Ok let me explain--

Let's start on a small scale... Can openers. Every single can opener I have ever owned has been terrible. Absolutely terrible. I'll buy a cheap one and it breaks. I buy an expensive one and it breaks. I buy a mediocre one and it breaks. I'll never win. They will always beat me. I am cursed!

Another one-- lip gloss. I had a lip gloss I loved and used for almost fifteen years and now it has disappeared. I searched and searched for a new kind and finally found this...

Love it. I found it at Walmart and thought my life was complete again. I ran out so I checked all the grocery stores we go to and couldn't find it. So I went back to walmart. I've been a million times and they never have this color. Finally one day they had one there so I bought it. I opened it when I got home to find the tube inside completely empty. Every time I've gone back since then they haven't had it again. Then two nights ago I went and it was there! I decided to buy the two that were left just to be safe. I opened them both right away to make sure they were in there and they were! Woohoo! I got home and put them in my make up tub and like literally five minutes later I found Sam covered in shimmer. I ran into the bathroom to confirm my worst suspicions and what I found was horrifying....He had grabbed them and twisted them all the way up and smeared them everywhere. Again, like I said....CURSED.

This brings me to my current cursed situation. Kevin and I decided that we would make a goal to have some big house projects done by Jane's birthday (which was May 9th) and we actually almost made it. We got rid of our beautiful turquoise indoor carpet and put in wood floors. Here is a pic showing all the different stages :)
It was pretty intense. They estimated that they would need 3 bags of leveling solution stuff and they ended up using 24 bags.....so instead of it being a one day project it ended up being three days and a LOT more $.... This is what we lived in--

Kind of fun! Haha ;) Ok so Jane's birthday was on a Friday and they got done with the floors Wednesday night. We had picked out a few handles for our cabinets and seeing them with the new floors I decided this was the one I wanted--

Thursday morning I woke up early and went to Home Depot to buy the remaining 41 we needed. They only had 23 there so I bought those and went home. I put them all on by myself and was so proud. They told me other Home Depots in the area had tons more so I figured I could get the remaining ones that night. I went and they had the same ones, but they were black instead of bronze. They told me to go to a different Home Depot and that they would have them for sure. I snuck away early Friday morning (the day of our big party) and went to get them. I got there and it was the same thing....they were all black instead of bronze. The sku number was the exact same, but they werent the same! They were black! The workers kept telling me that they had them because there computers said they had them, but they weren't the same. They didn't get it! I was about to lose it, but decided to go to a different Home Depot (my fourth one at this point). I grabbed a bronze handle at home so I could show them just in case. I got there and of course it was the same situation....they were all black. Again I had to sit there and listen to them tell me that they did have them and that these were the same ones I had bought (because the sku was the same) even though the one I was holding was brown and the others were BLACK. BLACK!!!! I totally lost it at this point. An angel named John came and took over. He could actually see past the sku number and see the difference between my bronze one and their black one so he went and looked in all their boxes to see if he could find some for me. Meanwhile I am sitting on the ground crying and people are awkwardly walking around me. He couldn't find any that were the same. It turns out that literally over night they stopped making them bronze and changed them to black and I was lucky enough to get the last remaining 23 that existed in the universe. He sat with me for an hour and we went thru hundreds trying to pick out the ones that looked the most bronze. He was so nice. I decided to go home and see if they would work and he told me if they didn't then he would refund me for all of them even though I had opened half of them and didn't have a receipt for the first 23 I bought. I went home and put the rest on and they looked terrible! Didn't work at all. I decided to leave them on for the party and prayed that no one would comment on how half were black and half were brown because I probably would have attacked them.

Ok...so now it is about nine in the morning. We bought a new fridge and stove and they were supposed to deliver them sometime between ten and two. They came around noon. Perfect right? They took our old fridge and stove and brought in the new ones. If they didn't fit I was going to completely break down. They bring the fridge in first and.........totally didn't fit. Way too big. Two inches too tall. If Siena hadn't been there I don't know what I would have done. The workers were pretty snoody and just stood there asking me what they wanted me to do. I called Kevin and he said for them just to leave it there and when he got home from work we would figure it out. To say I was freaking out is a total understatement. They wheel in the stove and it did not look like it would fit either. After pushing and pushing it finally BARELY squeezed in. They left and I seriously think they were grateful they were still alive. For those of who who don't know, I can get really freaky scary. Poor Kevbev knows :( He came home and ripped out the cupboards (along with the molding unfortunatley) so we could get the fridge in. He somehow found a way to get the molding back in and fifteen minutes before the party started we pushed it in.....

Now we just need to figure out what to do above the fridge there. I want to just get a cute picture or decor thing and cover it up, but the perfectionist in Kevin probably won't let me do that ;) Oh and a funny side note-- Kevin wanted to try and hook the water up to the fridge before the party (during that fifteen minute interval) but I said no and it was a good thing I did.....it ended up being a couple hours of intense water spraying and leaking and two trips to Home Depot before it was all done.....phew!!!!! At least one crisis was averted!

So now it is May 23rd and we still have no handles on our cupboards. We can't find any that we like. We have to pry at them with our fingers to get them to open....it's ridiculous! I'm pretty sure that my angel, John, was indeed just that-- an angel, or he is one of the three nephites because I keep calling that Home Depot back to see if he is there working and they don't know who I'm talking about.....so I still have all my blasted brown and black handles :( So where was I going with all this??? Oh that's right..... I am cursed. CURSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone knows where I can get beautiful handles for my kitchen, some champagne Burt's bees Chapstick, and a can opener that works all at the same place.....please oh PLEASE tell me :)

April

I know we are only a few weeks into April, but I feel like so much has happened so I thought I would share what's been going on....

The month started out perfectly with the best April fools ever! Oh man did I fool all of you!!! If you missed what I did then here you go-- I posted this pic on fb and said...

Our family night was full of mixed emotions last night. Kevin has been accepted as a candidate to get a PHD in communications at the university of Denver! Look out Denver here we come! I like the sound of doctor Davis ;)

Kevin got calls all day and so did I. It was great! Then I got multiple emails and texts from our primary president and she told me she was in tears! That is when I knew it needed to end.....ha! I am still getting comments from people asking when we are leaving! Bahahahaha! So fun! I also put this little guy in Steven and Siena's bathroom.....

They figured out it was me who put it there pretty quick, BUT they thought that I was the one who took the pregnancy test.....(which it was me actually!)......Gah!!! Exciting huh?!? Did I honestly just fool you again??? Haha! Jk! My pregnant sister in law took the test for me the night before ;) Oh how I love April fools. Can't wait for next year :)

The week got progressively worse. The bishop came over and asked me to be the YW camp director for our ward. Yikes. I've been pretty anxious/nervous about it for the last couple of weeks, but after church today I feel much more calm and excited about it all. It's going to be great! I'm really excited! Kevin is thrilled because he thinks this means that I am going to go up into the mountains with him and learn how to use knives and go hiking and start a fire with my bare hands. I'm not sure how callings work and what blessings can come in times of need, but I seriously doubt that I'll be able to do all that and that my fear of bugs and bears will go away....but you never know ;)

Then Friday came. Worst day ever. I was feeding Jane in her booster chair and doing the dishes when she scooted herself back and fell backwards in her chair off the kitchen counter. It all happened in a blink of an eye. I keep hearing the crash of the fall and it makes me sick. I seriously thought she broke her neck. We took her to her doctor and he sent us right up to primary's. They did some X-rays and she broke her right clavicle. Every time I had to explain what happened I lost it. There is a reason they say to never put your child on an elevated surface (even if they are securely strapped in like she was) so if you ever do this then please stop!!! This accident was totally inexcusable. I am just so grateful that she wasn't more hurt. Here is a pic so you can see what NOT to do and just how high she fell....

She is doing ok, but sleeping has been really rough. She is the toughest little girl I know! Love her so much. Here she is after we got home from the hospital. Even though she had every reason to be mad at me she still cuddled and slept in my arms :(

Fast forward a week later and it's Friday April 11th. A day I had waited SO long for. My sister Morgan and I had tickets to see CBT's ballet, Sleeping Beauty. I was so excited for this night because 1- it's a whole night with my most favorite person in the world, my Morgie! 2- we were going to the ballet! (one of my other most favorite things in the world) and 3- ten years ago I performed in that ballet and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It's a very special ballet to me because I was the Lilac Fairy. It is one of the most beautiful principal roles you can have in a ballet. I performed it my last year with CBT and the time they did it before that my sister was also the Lilac Fairy. Years before her my amazing ballet teacher Stacey danced the part......so as you can imagine it holds a very special place in our hearts :)

Watching it was pretty incredible and very hard. From the moment the music came on I felt like these last ten years never happened and that I was the one who was supposed to come on stage. I could remember all the choreography.....it all came back. Oh how I loved dancing that part! Seriously every step and every arm was so beautiful and felt so perfect. When I thought the night couldn't get any more emotional they called Morgan and I to the stage at the end of the show and recognized us for being the previous Lilac Fairies. I was actually standing center stage again and oh it was wonderful! Even though it hurt my heart greatly, it was a moment I'll never forget. Soooo grateful that I have my incredible sister and that we could share such a precious night together! She gets it and knows and has felt everything that I have ever known or felt. Love her. Don't know what I would do without her! Here are some pics of that special night....

Four generations of Lilac Fairies

Oh and here is me! Hehe!!!! Kind of fun ;)

I don't know what to expect for the rest of April.....it's been full of so many emotions already.....hopefully the rest of the month will be pretty mellow and uneventful ;) I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!!!!!

Oh and if any of you have been wondering, Sam is still not potty trained........like I said, hopefully the rest of the month will be pretty mellow and uneventful ;)

Another coat story.......

Remember how I went to South Towne and had the magical fairy tale of seeing my dream coat in the window and it fit perfectly and I lived happily ever after?!? Well, today I went back to South Towne and had a wonderfully similar experience......

I've been pretty stir crazy at home lately with all this cold weather, so today I decided to get the kiddos out and I took them to the South Towne mall to ride the train and play in their play land. We were walking towards it and my eye caught something in a nearby store window. I ran over hoping what I saw was real and.......it was........ Leggings!!!!! I've been searching all over for a funky cute pair of leggings and these were the ones of my dreams! I mean absolutely perfect. Of course there was only one pair left and luckily they were my size. I went to buy them and the girl told me that if I bought another pair they were half off.........ummmmm ok!!!! So I found a different pair that is very cute too and bought them both! As I was paying for them I started chatting with the girl who was helping me. She had more tattoos then skin and piercings all over her face. She asked me if I worked and I told her how I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom. She mentioned that her boyfriend had a daughter and how she loved spending time with her especially because she wasn't from here and it's been hard making friends. I asked her where she was from and she said virginia beach. I told her that is where my brother served a mission for the LDS church and then asked her if she had heard of it or of "Mormons". She had and she said that she was really surprised how open and nice Mormons were. I told her that I was a Mormon and that I didn't know what I would do if I didn't have the church in my life. She said that she found God when she was twenty (just a few years ago) and that she has really enjoyed reading the bible. I told her how I just started reading the bible for the first time because I've only ever read the Book of Mormon. I asked her if she had ever heard of that and she hadn't so I explained what it was. It was so amazing to share something that I love and cherish with all my heart to someone that had no idea what it was. It was incredible! She was so nice and she told me that she was so grateful to have met me. I hope I sparked enough curiosity in her that maybe she will check out the Book of Mormon one day :) Wow. What a great outing! So grateful for that conversation and for my new leggings! Hehe! Aren't they cute?!?!? :)
